Bhubaneswar, Jun 13:
Commissionerate Police today busted a prostitution racket running under the guise of an ayurvedic massage parlour in the heart of the Odisha capital with the arrest of two men, including the pimp.
The parlour—Ayur Herbal Health Care–in the Goutam Nagar area under Badagada police station limits was involved in immoral activities in the name of therapeutic massage and health care.
Acting on a tip-off, the Quick Action Team (QAT), led by Badagada ACP Akshaya Kumar Mishra, raided the dubious health care centre and nabbed the owner of the parlour, identified as Bibhuti Bhushan Nayak (40) of Sahapad along with a customer identified as P Sharma (52) of Jatni.
Besides, four women, all of them belonging to Odisha, were rescued from the parlour and sent for medical examination.
“We have nabbed the pimp and a customer for their involvement in the incident. Objectionable items were also seized from the spot,” inspector in-charge of Badagada police station, Suvendu Kumar Sinha said.
However, two men and three women managed to give the slip to the police.
In this connection, Police have registered a case (141/2015) and have pressed charges under sections 3, 4, 5, 7, 8 of Immoral Traffic Prevention (ITP) Act on the accused.
Further investigation regarding the involvement of the house owner and the identity of involved persons are in progress, the IIC said.
