Eight days after her complaint that many influential persons were involved in a flesh trade racket run partly by her husband, the Mahila police on Saturday arrested the kingpin of the racket and mounted a manhunt to nab her husband along with other persons named in the FIR.
A 22-year-old woman had lodged a complaint at the local Mahila police station on September 13 alleging her husband along with some women had forced her into prostitution.
The arrested kingpin identified as Rina Behera (40) of Nayaplli Brit Colony was forwarded to court today, police said.
Police has detained 40 persons in connection with the case for interrogation.
The victim in her complaint had alleged that she was forced into flesh trade by her husband Prasant Kumar Sahoo who had married her in a Puri temple in 2007.
The victim said Prasant had managed to impress her when she was just 15 and later married her.She alleged that her husband had engaged her in a flesh trade racket in which government officials including a state Crime Branch officer and other influential persons were involved.
