Cuttack: The Twin City Commissionerate Police Friday busted a sex racket operating from a rented house in Nuapada-Balisahi area of Odisha’s Millennium City-Cuttack and arrested three persons including the kingpin of the racket.
Two sex workers have been also rescued during the raid, police sources said.
While the kingpin of the racket has been identified as Prem Chand Rout of Salepur, the customers have been identified as one Abhisek Rout of Thoria Sahi of Mangalabag area of the city and one Rintu Mandal hailing from neighbouring state of West Bengal, police sources added.
Police have seized an Indica car, a motorcycle, and several objectionable items from the house during the raid, police sources said.
Acting on a tip-off that a sex racket was running from the rented house in Nuapada-Balisahi Madhupatna police sent one of its personnel posing as a decoy customer to the house.
On being confirmed that a sex racket was operating from the rented house, a police party led by ACP Anil Mishra and Madhupatna Police Station IIC Jitendra Dalai raided the house leading to the arrests and seizures.
Police sources said Prem Chand Rout posing himself as a contractor seven days back had taken the house on rent.
During interrogation, Rout has allegedly told the police that he used to lure young girls aged between 20-22 years from Salepur, Kendrapara, Puri, and Kolkata and engaged them in the sex trade.
He has revealed to the police that he used to bring customers from Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and nearby areas to the rented house using his Indica car for availing services of the sex workers. He had also planned to expand his operations to other cities in the State.
The accused persons and the sex workers have been medically examined would be forwarded to the court on Saturday, police sources said.
