Separate road accidents claimed seven lives in Odisha today.

A person was killed when a bike on which he was travelling was hit by a truck at Kalyanpur Chhak under Digapahandi police limits in Odisha’s Ganjam district. Similarly, a cyclist was crushed to death by a truck at Haladiapadar Chhak under Golanthara police limits in the district. This apart, a pedestrian was killed when a sand-laden truck ran over him near Badanadi river bed at Aska in the district.


In Kendrapada district, a bus hit a biker killing him on the spot at Barimula Chhak under Pattamundai police limits.

In another road accident in Puri district, a youth was killed after his bike was hit by a two-wheeler from behind at Sarbapada Chhak under Nimapada police limits. The deceased, identified as Bijay Khadei, was killed on the spot.

In Sambalpur district, a speeding truck hit a moped killing a person at Dhanupalli Chhak. On being informed about the accident, police reached the spot and seized the truck besides detaining its driver. Tension gripped the spot following the incident as irate locals staged road blockade demanding compensation to the family of the deceased.

In Balangir district, a biker was killed in a road accident at Patnagarh.
