Seven arrested in murder case

Khandagiri Police on Tuesday arrested seven persons including a juvenile for their alleged involvement in killing of a person Bideshi Mallick (35) of Raghunath Nagar in Dumduma under Khandagiri police limits late on Monday night. They were forwarded to the court today, police said.

The accused were identified as Muna Pradhan, Dillip Sahu, Daitari Bayak, Dalia Pradhan, Kalia Sahu alias Jata and Dinabandhu Bayak, all residents of Raghunath Nagar here. Besides, a juvenile Sanjay Sahu of the same locality was also sent to juvenile court in Khurda.

According to Khandagiri police, at around 8 pm on Monday, the arrested persons attacked Bideshi, who was in a drunken state, for creating disturbances in the locality. Bideshi was stabbed by a knife on his leg by one of the accused during the attack.

After getting information, Khandagiri police reached the spot and rushed the injured to the Capital Hospital. Bideshi was later referred to SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack after his condition deteriorated. He died at the SCB late on Monday night, police said.
