Supporting the Keonjhar bandh organised today to protest against the alleged apathy of the Odisha government in setting up of a medical college in the district, senior Congress leader and former PCC president Niranjan Patnaik today said the government should learn from the spontaneous protest by the people and rectify its mistake by setting up a medical college in the district.
Several organizations, including district lawyers’ association, observed the bandh.
Patnaik expressed his gratitude to the people for supporting the cause.
The senior Congress leader said that hile the Centre had approved the proposal of the state government for setting up of four medical colleges at Baleswar, Koraput, Mayurbhanj and Balangir districts under the 12th Five Year Plan, the state government had ignored Keonjhar. It speaks volumes about its gross apathy towards the district, he said.
