In his maiden visit to this western Odisha town, former President A P J Abdul Kalam today urged students to set their goal and work hard and with perseverance to achieve it.
Addressing students of Chandrasekhar Behera Zila School here, Kalam stressed on continuous acquisition of knowledge to achieve success as knowledge is the assimilation of creativity, righteousness and courage.
“Where there is righteousness in the heart there is harmony in the house, when there is harmony in the house there is order in the nation, when there is order in the nation there is peace in the world,” the former President said.
Stating that problems should be handled boldly, he said the youths should have the qualities to successfully overcome hurdles and effectively deal with problems in life. “The purpose of education is to make good human beings with skill and expertise. Enlightened human beings can be created by teachers,” said Kalam.
Answering queries from the students, he said primary education in the country makes the Indian education system unique as it is different from the systems in other countries.
The former President also released a souvenir during the occasion. School and Mass Education Minister Debi Prasad Mishra was also present on the occasion.
The former President got loud applause when he started his speech with a dash of Sambalpuri, the local dialect.
