The annual conference of senior officers the Odisha police began at the Senior Police Officers’ Mess here this morning.
The two-day conference, inaugurated and chaired by the Director General of Police (DGP) Sanjeev Marik, will discussissues relating to crime and law and order.
“At the senior officers conference, we mainly discuss issues pertaining to crime and law and order. The them of the conference this year is “Police reachability and response to weaker sections of the society,” said Marik .
Sources in the police headquarters said the DGP will discuss with senior police officers of the state issues related to problems of law and order, smooth conduct of Nabakalebara festival of Lord Jagannath, Operation Smile, Bachpan Bachao and Maoist related problems in remote areas of the state.
The conference, which will prepare an annual plan of activities for the police, began with the presentation of the customary guard of honour to the DGP on his arrival at the venue and then the conference will be inaugurated and chaired by the DGP.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will address the concluding session of the conference tomorrow.
