Senior journalist Amarendra Lal Bose passes away

Veteran Odisha journalist Amarendra Lal Bose passed away at his residence at Baripada this morning. He died of a massive cardiac arrest, family sources said.

He was 88.

Widely respected as a journalist and environmentalist, Bose’s  journalistic career spanning over 60 years began  when he started writing  for the erstwhile Hindustan Standard and Blitz. He then worked forThe Telegraph and The Indian Express as the Mayurbhanj district correspondent.  He was working as the Mayurbhanj district  correspondent for United News of India and Times of India until his death today.

He was also associated with the leading Odia daily Sambad and English daily Sun Times for a number of years.

A well-known environmentalist, he had worked as an honorary wildlife warden under the state government and was honoured with Biju Patnaik Samman for his dedicated service to conseravation of Nature.

In recognition of his selfless social service, he was also conferred with hononary D.Litt by the North Odisha University.

The entire journalist fraternity of the district, eminent personalities, intellectuals, senior citizens and senior district officials visited the residence of Bose today to pay their last respect to the departed soul.
