A self-styled god-man in Odisha has landed in jail on charges of outraging the modesty of a minor girl at Bhalinuagaon village in Jajpur district after a local court rejected his bail plea, police said on Tuesday.
The accused identified as Rama Chandra Sahu (30) of Simulia Maidipur village of Jajpur district was arrested on charges of allegedly outraging modesty of a minor girl after the victim lodged a complaint against him with Bari police station on Monday.
According to reports, Sahu, a self-proclaimed god man, used to visit Bhalinuagaon village and stay in the house of a local resident, who along with his wife and children had become his disciples.
The victim, the 17-year daughter of Sahu’s host, in her FIR said the god man visited their house on Monday and tried to molest her.
As news spread about the incident, angry villagers caught hold of the fake god man and informed the police.
Bari police arrested Sahu on Monday under sections 354 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code and forwarded him to court.
