Sambalpur, Dec 6:
Swashbuckling opener Virender Sehwag was out for a duck while fellow India reject Gautam Gambhir scored just 32 as Odisha restricted the star-studded Delhi team to 268/6 on the first day of the Ranji Trophy Group-A match at the VSS Stadium here on Friday.
Sehwag was scalped for a duck by seamer Suryakant Pradhan after facing only four balls. Unmukt Chand, the other Delhi opener, could not stay long either as he perished to a swinging delivery by the same bowler.
With the team reeling at 2 for 9, Mithun Minhas and Rajat Bhatia steadied the innings. Minhas who scored a fine 92, got out to a delivery from Basant Mohanty. Skipper Gautam Gambhir scored only 32 runs before getting out to Deepak Behera.
For Odisha, Suryakanta Pradhan claimed two wickets while Basant Mohanty, Deepak Behera, Dheeraj Singh and Govind Poddar claimed one wicket each. Mohanty and Pradhan, the two Odisha seamers, kept the visitors on a tight leash.
At close, the visitors were 268 for 6 with Bhatia and VJ Sood not out on 71 and 12 respectively.
After winning the toss, Odisha skipper Biplab Samantray put Delhi to bat.
