Tight security arrangements have been put in place ahead of Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar’s day-long Odisha visit today.
According to reports, seven platoons of polie personnel have been deployed at the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) keeping in view the attack on Union Textile Minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar’s convoy in Bargarh ahead of the Vikas Utsav event while they were on their way to attend the function.
Besides, ten platoons of police personnel have also been deployed at Sarala Bhawan in Cuttack, the venue where Parrikar would address intellectuals to commemorate the completion of two years of Narendra Modi-led NDA government at the Centre.
Apart from Parrikar, Minister for Drinking Water and Sanitation Ram Kripal Yadav, Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan are also scheduled to attend Vikas Utsav event in the millennium city.
