Security forces-Maoists exchange fire in Odisha forest

Exchange of fire between Maoists and security personnel was again reported from a forested area in Odisha’s Kandhamal district today.

Maoists and security forces exchanged fire in Pokhoribandh forest under Barkhama police limits during combing and search operations in the area, informed Kandhamal SP Kanwar Vishal Singh.

“Search operations have been intensified following an exchange of fire. However, we are yet to receive reports of any damage or casualty. More information will be available after our team returns,” said Singh.

Notably, Maoists and security forces had exchanged fire on Monday in the forested area near Ladapadar village in Gochhapada area of the district.

In a related development, security personnel today busted a Maoist camp in Patadhara forest in Nuapada district bordering Chhattisgarh during combing operation and have seized a cache of explosives which includes five tiffin bombs and 20 detonators, police sources revealed.
