Cuttack, Dec 17:
In a bid to tackle the rise in cyber crimes, second cyber police station will be set up in Odisha capital soon, informed Crime Branch Special DGP BK Sharma here today.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting on cyber crime held at the police headquarters here, Sharma said, “Use of cards, mobile banking and e-banking will increase after demonetization for which there is a possibility of more online frauds in future. There is lack of awareness among people about this platform. Our officers also lack technical knowledge to investigate into such crimes. Keeping this in view, we had called some officials of ICICI bank from Kolkata to sensitise our officers on online frauds.”
A Cyber Forensic Division at the Cyber Forensic Laboratory would be commissioned by March next year, Sharma added.
Several police officers from different districts and bank officials were present in the meeting.
