School students bashed up by eatery owner in Odisha on suspicion

In a shocking incident, three students of a residential school near Kansbahal in Odisha’s Sundergarh district were brutally beaten up by the owner of a roadside eatery on Monday for allegedly stealing eggs from his shop, reports said.

One of the students, who had sustained severe injuries, has been admitted to the Rourkela Government Hospital here, reports added.

According to reports, the students of a residential school were on a sightseeing trip to the Mandira dam under Kansbahal police limits accompanied by their teachers. After their return, some students went to a nearby eatery to drink water. However,the owner of the eatery suspecting three boys to have stolen eggs from his shop beat them up mercilessly.

One of the teachers who had accompanied the students said a complaint has been lodged with the Kansbahal police station.

Police and eatery owner were not available for their versions at time of filing of this report.
