The apex court has also served a notice to the opposite party, Lalatendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra, defeated Congress candidate from Brahmagiri Assembly constituency in the 2014 elections.

Defeated Congress candidate Mohapatra had filed a case in the Odisha High Court in 2014, alleging large-scale irregularities in the polls to the Brahmagiri Assembly constituency.

The High Court on July 24 rejected a petition filed by Das Burma seeking quashing of an election petition filed by Mohapatra alleging large-scale irregularities during the elections to the Brahmagiri Assembly constituency last year. Following the High Court’s rejection of his petition, Das Burma had moved the Supreme Court.
