New Delhi, Nov 5:
The Supreme Court today decided to hear a petition for engagement of more CBI officers to probe the mega chit fund scam in Odisha in the next week.
A division bench of the apex court comprising Justice TS Thakur and Justice R Bhanumathi took a decision in this regard while admitting a petition filed by amicus curie in the case Shyam Divan.
The petitioner had alleged that investigation into the chit fund scam in the state was being delayed as only a handful of CBI officials are presently probing 44 chit fund companies.
He also urged the apex court to direct the CBI to submit reports to the court regarding personnel, vehicles and other logistic supports to expedite the chit fund scam probe.
