Sandalwood trees stolen from Forest Park in Odisha capital

Miscreants have chopped off two sandalwood trees amounting to more than Rs One lakh from Forest Park in the heart of the Odisha capital.

One tree has been sawed off and taken away while another was chopped and hidden in the park premises by the thieves to be taken out at opportune time.

On Thursday, Mamata Samantray noticed the cut off tree stumps while taking a morning walk and informed the authorities of Forest Park Morning Walk Welfare Association.

The association informed BDA Horticulture Department about the theft. The matter was reported to the local police who are investigating the case.

It may be recalled that five sandalwood trees were stolen from inside the campus of Ramakrishna Mission on March 3 last year. A case was registered with the Lingaraj police station.
