The Samata Kranti Dal today announced the names of 17 Assembly candidates for the first phase of the ensuing elections.
Party founder and former Union minister Braja Kishore Tripathy said the party will announce names of other candidates in the next two to three days.
Even though the party has decided to field candidates for Lok Sabha seats, he did not make it clear as to how many seats it would contest. He did not say anything about the number of Assembly seats it will contest either.
“We have not decided yet how many seats the party will fight. However, selection of candidates is going on and everything would be cleared soon,” said Tripahty.
Among the 17 candidates, party president George Tirkey will contest from Biramitrapur Assembly constituency. He is the sitting MLA of the constituency.
The other candidates are Sitaram Satpathy-Titlagar, Gitanjali Pradhan-Redhakhol, Hemant Kumar-Narla, Gopal Das-Raghunathpalli, Panchanan Dhangada Majhi-Junagarh,Lawrence Kerketa-Rajgangpur, Bhagaban Gamang-Gunpur, Prasant Kumar Swain-Kabisurya Naga, Amulya Kumar Sahu-Chikiti, Prasanna Kumar Dharua-Nuapada, Guruprasad rout-Jharsuguda, Brundaban Behera-Polsara
