Two noted authors of Odia literature – Nadiya Bihari Mohanty and Khetrabasi Nayak – have been named for the prestigious Kendriya Sahitya Akademi awards for the year 2013.

Mohanty, who is best known for presenting the highly popular ‘Sisu Sansar’ radio programme on the All India Radio (AIR), will receive the Bal Sahitya Puraskar for his contribution to children’s literature while Nayak will be honoured with the Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar for his short story collection ‘Dadan’ published in 2011.

Mohanty, a native of Cuttack, has earlier been conferred with the Odisha Sahitya Akademi award for his popular books ‘Gapudi O Pakudi’ and ‘Khiri Khechudi’.

The awards will consist of a casket containing an engraved copper-plaque, a shawl and a cheque of Rs 50,000.
