The Odisha Assembly today witnessed pandemonium as Congress members created ruckus over breach of privilege notice against Agriculture Minister Pradeep Maharathi.
The Congress MLAs rushed into the well of the House demanding Speaker’s ruling on the privilege notice.
During the Zero Hour, Congress leader Naba Kishore Das moved the breach of privilege notice.
The Congress legislators rushed into the well of the House and demanded ruling from the Speaker. Following uproarious scenes, Speaker Niranjan Pujari adjourned the House till 12.15 pm.
On December 2, Agriculture Minister Pradeep Maharathi had given a reply to a query on farmer suicides in the state.
The Opposition Congress members, on December 11, moved a breach of privilege notice alleging the minister of hiding facts about the deaths of farmers. The minister had admitted availability of information on the suicide death of 122 farmers in the state during the kharif season.
It may be mentioned that two privilege notices, one by Jharsuguda MLA Naba Kishore Das and another by Congress MLAs Kailash Chandra Kulesika and Krushna Chandra Sagaria — were served to the assembly secretary.
