RSBY beneficiaries to get health coverage under BKKY in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Good news for the Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) beneficiaries as they will be covered with Rs 1 lakh insurance under Biju Krushak Kalyan Yojana (BKKY) (Stream-II).

A total of 44,08,070 beneficiaries enrolled under RSBY, who are getting insurance coverage of Rs 30,000 will have a top-up of Rs 70,000 through BKKY (Stream-II) from Jan 1, 2019, informed Health & Family Welfare Minister Pratap Jena here today.

As the validity of RSBY launched by the Centre ended on Dec 31, 2018, the Odisha Government decided to cover the existing RSBY beneficiaries under BKKY (Stream-II) by providing them a total of Rs 1 lakh insurance coverage under this BKKY (Stream-II) card, he told media in a press conference.

All the RSBY beneficiaries have been provided the BKKY (Stream-II) cards. Those beneficiaries, who have not received the card, can get it by showing their RSBY card at BKKY kiosk located at every District Headquarters Hospital or can contact the Deputy Director of Agriculture/District Coordinator-SHAS of respective districts.

The collectors have been directed to take initiative on a priority basis to ensure the RSBY beneficiaries to avail the BKKY card at earliest. The beneficiaries have been suggested to collect BKKY stream-II card in exchange of existing RSBY card from their nearest BKKY kiosks, he said.

For more details, the beneficiaries can contact at toll-free number 155369, he added.

According to reports, over 3 crore beneficiaries of both RSBY and BKKY have been included under the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) launched since August 15 in Odisha.

More than 1.80 crore patients have been benefited under the State-sponsored BSKY scheme in the past four months, out of which over 4 lakh have undergone surgeries for free of cost.
