Rs 30 lakh looted from 2 ATMs in Odisha’s Balasore


Balasore: Unidentified miscreants reportedly looted around Rs 30 lakh from two ATMs in Odisha’s Balasore district late last night.

The robbers decamped with the amount after breaking the machines using gas-cutters.

According to reports, one Udesh Rout of Fakir Mohan Nagar here had come to an ATM near ITI Chhak around 3.30 am in order to withdraw cash. In the meantime, 2-3 miscreants grabbed and thrashed him. The robbers later threatened him to stay silent and looted lakhs of rupees by breaking the machine with a gas-cutter.

A loot was also committed from an ATM at Sunhaat Bazar in a similar way. On being informed about the incidents, Balasore police reached the spots and started investigation.

The wrongdoers came in an SUV vehicle without having registration number plate and committed the crime. Special police teams have been formed to nab them, police sources said, adding that CCTV footage of the ATMs are being examined to identify the looters.
