Chess star Saina Salonika, who won the World Youth Chess Championship U-10 title at United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Sunday, was accorded a rousing welcome after her arrival here on Monday.
“It was really tough to register a win since all players participating in the event were of equal potential. I played with all determination to win the match”, she told reporters here.
Wishing her a bright future, Governor SC Jamir, in his message, said Saina had made the state proud. Her achievement would inspire the budding chess stars of Odisha in the coming days, he said.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik too congratulated Saina on her feat.
