Irate villagers staged a road blockade following the death of a 10-year-old girl, who was run over by a jeep allegedly used by the ruling BJD for election campaign in Odisha’s Kandhamal district this afternoon.
According to reports, a jeep carrying some BJD supporters with the party flags and symbol, ran over the minor girl while she was crossing the road at Dudimandi under Khajuripada police station limits.
Tension ran high in the area as angry villagers staged a road blockade and damaged at least two vehicles passing by the accident site.
Following information, police rushed to the spot and pacified the villagers who later withdrew the blockade.
