Bhubaneswar, Sep 20:
Dr B Muthuraman, Vice Chairman of Tata Steel and Chairman of Tata International, on Saturday urged students of Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB), the premier B School in Odisha, to strive to build a glorious future for India and lead the country to progress by being responsible individuals and managers.
Addressing students of XIMB on the occasion of the 27th Foundation day of the B School, Dr Muthuraman said there are growth opportunities galore in India, but emphasied the point that mere presence of these opportunities does not lead to success.
“There are a lot of challenges that need to be overcome; the biggest of them being the social challenge. There is a need to bridge the gap of social inequality and this inequality is not about an outcome but the inequality of opportunities that arise due to gender and caste differences,” he said.
Dr Muthurama, the chief guest on the occasion, motivated the budding future managers to take up the responsibility and contribute to the development of the underprivileged and disadvantaged sections of the society. “You must strive to be a leader who can strike a fine balance between vision and architectural dimension,” he said.
The audience heard in rapt attention as Dr Muthuraman shared his thoughts and personal experiences.
The students later had the opportunity to interact with Dr. Muthuraman through a question and answer session where they asked some pertinent questions with respect to CSR drives of the companies and their contributions for the development of the society.
The event was presided over by Mr. Rajive Kaul, Chairman, Xavier Universoty Bhubaneswar (XUB), XIMB and Fr. Paul Fernandes, S.J., Vice Chancellor and Director, XUB, XIMB.
The event was attended by students, faculty and the staff members.
