The ongoing heat wave in Odisha has intensified further as 13 places in the state recorded temperatures of over 40 degrees Celsius today.
While Titlagarh and Sonepur recorded the highest temperature in the state at 42.5 degree each, the mercury rose to 40 degrees and above in Angul (42.1), Baripada (40), Jharsuguda (41.7), Keonjhargarh (40), Sambalpur (41.3), Sundargarh (40.5), Hirakud (41.3), Talcher (41.5), Bhawanipatna (42), Bolangir (41) and Phulbani (40.4).
In Bhubaneswar and Chandbali, temperature almost touched the 40 degree mark recording 39.7 and 39.1 degree respectively.
The Met office here has predicted light rain or thundershower at one or two places over interior districts of south Odisha during the next 24 hours. The heat wave would continue in the remaining districts, it has said.
