Amid scorching heat wave across Odisha, the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre today predicted thunder squall in many districts of the state within the next 24 hours.
“Thunder squall accompanied with hail/rain with wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph likely to occur at one or two places over Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Ganjam, Gajapati, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Cuttack, Bhadrak, Angul and Dhenkanal districts,” a release of the meteorological centre said.
However, heat wave likely to prevail at one or two places over Kalahandi, Balangir, Nabarangpur, Bhadrak, Rayagada, Sundargarh, Boudh and Kandhamal, it said.
Strong and gusty surface wind speed reaching 35 to 45 kmph likely to prevail along and off Odisha coast for which fishermen have been advised to be cautious while venturing into sea.
