Bhubaneswar, Mar 25:
The nationality of the sex worker of foreign origin rescued from an apartment in Sri Vihar area of the Odisha capital during raids on Wednesday has been ascertained.
The rescued sex worker who was earlier thought to be Russian is a native of Kyrgyzstan. The Twin City Commissionerate Police is in touch with the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in this connection. The rescued woman is here in India on a tourist visa. The validity of her visa would expire on March 31. She would be handed over to officials of her country’s embassy on their arrival here, police sources said.
Moreover, the Twin City Commissionerate Police is contemplating to serve a notice to the apartment owner who had rented it for such purpose. As per standard procedure, a landlord is required to furnish particulars of the tenant to the nearest police station on giving a house on rent.
Police have formed a special team to nab Sunil Meher-the kingpin of the racket and others involved in the sex racket, informed Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi.
