Recreational harbour launched in Odisha’s Satapada

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched a multipurpose recreational harbour at Satapada in Puri district through video conferencing from the Secretariat here on Friday.

The Rs 19 crore-harbour project will accommodate 200 boats at a time.

Inaugurating the project, Patnaik said that the harbour will generate more job opportunities apart from boosting tourism and improving the road infrastructure in Satapada.

Besides, he also launched Sahid Baji Rout Noujatra Suraksha Yojana for the safety of boat passengers. Under the scheme, life jackets, fire extinguishers and other facilities will be provided to the people.

Notably, the construction work of Multi Jetty Harbour started in 2015 and was completed in July, 2017. Featuring a main jetty, an approach jetty and 20 finger jetties, the harbour will improve connectivity in Chilika lake.
