Mumbai, Dec 13:
Odisha would take on Mumbai in their Group A Ranji Trophy league clash beginning here on Saturday.
Mumbai would rely on Wasim Jaffer and wicketkeeper Aditya Tare to pile up a big total. The hosts have the likes of left-arm spinner Vishal Dabholkar, who is the top wicket taker of the season with 26 victims.
The defending champions are missing key players like Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane and Zaheer Khan, who are currently with the Indian team on its South Africa tour, besides Dhawal Kulkarni and Abhishek Nayar, who are injured.
Odisha, on the other hand, would look to draw confidence from Jharkhand’s performance and try to create problemsfor the hosts.
The team will be banking on Captain Biplab Samantray, Abhilash Mallick, Natraj Behera and Niranjan Behera to get to a good first innings total.
“There is an outside chance to beat Mumbai. If Jharkhand can take innings lead from Mumbai then why can’t we? We had defeated Jharkhand, so we have that confidence and are looking forward to a good match,” the Odisha captain said.
Pacer Basant Mohanty, who has been the strike bowler of Odisha with 22 wickets in five games, is expected to put up a good show.
