Odisha took a lead of 139 runs at the end of second day of the ongoing Ranji Trophy match against Karnataka being played at the Airforce Complex Ground, Palam in New Delhi.
Resuming batting on day 2 from the score of 42/2, Odisha suffered three quick jolts after a decent start losing captain Govinda Poddar, Dhiraj Singh and Subhranshu Senapati at the score of 76, 79 and 79 respectively.
However, the innings was somewhat restored by Abhishek Yadav and Biplab Samantray as the duo took the score to 149 before the former got out.
The highlight of the innings was the 97-run partnership between Biplab Samantray and wicketkeeper batsman Saurabh Rawat which took the total to 246 before Biplab departed scoring 58 off 190 balls.
Later, Saurabh Rawat’s 85 off 124 balls, which comprised 12 fours and a sixer, and a cameo innings of 23 runs by tailender Suryakant Pradhan helped Odisha to get past 300 runs.
At stumps on day 2, Odisha were 318 for the loss of nine wickets thereby taking a lead of 139 runs over Karnataka.
Earlier on day 1, Karnataka team was bundled out for 179 runs owing to a disciplined bowling and fielding by Odisha.
