An unbeaten knock of 158 by Rajat Bhatia helped Delhi post a massive score of 442 in their first innings against Odisha on the second day of the Ranji Trophy Group A match at VSS stadium here on Saturday.
Resuming at their overnight score at 268 for 6, the Delhi batsmen began scoring at a brisk pace.
Bhatia, who remained not out on 71 overnight, completed his 13th century and put his team in a commanding position by building partnerships with the tail-enders.
After the early departure of his overnight partner Varun Sood (16), Bhatia was joined by Sumit Narwal (40) and the duo had a 65-run partnership for the eighth wicket.
After Narwal’s departure, Bhatia started tormenting the Odisha bowlers and went on to add 92 runs for the ninth wicket with Ashish Nehra who made 40.
At close, the hosts were 121 for three in with opener Natraj Behera (53) and skipper Biplab Samantray (27) at the crease.
The duo has already put on 51-run stand for the unfinished fourth-wicket after losing Bikas Pati and Niranjan Behera for zero and five respectively.
Goving Poddar batted well for his 34 before getting caught behind off seamer Parvinder Awana.
