Versatile Odia film personality Rajgopal Mishra, popularly known as Raju Mishra, was conferred the prestigious Jayadev Award for his lasting contribution to Odia cinema over the last 35 years.
Mishra was conferred with the award by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the state film awards ceremony here this evening.
Popular star Sabyasachi won the award for the best actor for his performance in ‘Emiti Bi Hue’, Barsha walked away with the best actress award for her role in “Prem Sabutthu Balaban’ respectively.
“Odia films should reflect the language, culture, tradition and lifestyle of the state. It should maintain its originality. Many high quality stories have been scripted basing on the lifestyle and culture of Odias. If the films remain true to Odia culture, they will be acknowledged at the national level, besides drawing popularity,” said Patnaik.
