Bhubaneswar, Feb 16:
Members of Odisha television fraternity have demanded a Crime Branch inquiry into the death of popular actor Ranjit Patnaik alias Raja which happened under mysterious circumstances in Balasore district on February 7. They also took out a candlelight vigil from Ram Mandir square to Master Canteen square to mourn the death of the actor.
The members of Odisha Television Artist Association, Odisha Kinnar Sangha, and friends and well wishers of Ranjit Patnaik look out memorial candlelight walk praying for the deceased Odia actor.
His friends and well-wishers are in a state of disbelief that Raja could have committed suicide.
It was unlikely that Raja committed suicide and it was a pre-planned murder. They also were dissatisfied with the way investigations were going on. They said they wanted a crime branch probe into the matter, an actor said on conditions of anonymity.
The mystery of Raja’s death deepens with many unanswered questions like, why did Raja commit suicide? As Jessy has said that there was no fight between them that day. If he committed suicide then who forced him to kill himself? If it was not suicide then was it murder?
Eminent actors Uttam Mohanty, Aparajita Mohanty, Ashrumochan Mohanty, Kedar Mishra, Bidusmita, Elina and participants from transgender community, friends and well wishers participated in the candlelight vigil.
