Bhubaneswar, Mar 3:
The local Met office here has predicted thundershowers, accompanied by hail, in some parts of the coastal and western districts of Odisha during the next 36 hours.
According to Met office sources, a trough line formed across Telengana and Jharkhand has triggered rainfall in the state.
People of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack were caught unawares by a sudden afternoon shower on Sunday afternoon that lasted nearly an hour.
The low-lying areas of the two cities were clogged with rainwater causing inconvenience to the commuters.
Till 8.30 am today, the state capital had recorded 27.2 mm of rainfall, followed by Sambalpur and Sundargarh with 16 mm and 14 mm respectively.
The Met office had earlier predicted that the heat wave would begin from March 3 onwards in Odisha after the trough lines are cleared.
