Rain or thundershowers could occur at one or two places in Odisha during the next 24 hours under the impact of the depression formed over southwest Bay of Bengal, the meteorology department has said. There is, however, no possibility of heavy rains, it said.
Most parts of coastal Odisha witnessed cloudy conditions though there was no rain except for some drizzle at some places. The cloudy conditions are likely to prevail till Thursday, Director of Bhubaneswar Met centre Sarat Sahu said.
The depression over Bay of Bengal moved west-northwestwards and lay centred near latitude 11.00 N and longitude 80.50 E, about 1030 Km South-Southwest of Gopalpur at 0830 hours on Saturday. The system would move west-northwestwards and cross North Tamil Nadu coast close to north of Nagapattinam around sometime this evening, a Met bulletin issued this afternoon said.
Distant Cautionary Signal Number-One (DC-I) has been kept hoisted at Paradeep and Gopalpur ports. Fishermen have been advised to be cautious while venturing into the sea, the weather office said.
