Bhubaneswar: A low pressure area over north Odisha is likely to trigger rainfall across the state till August 28, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted.
“The low pressure area over coastal areas of West Bengal & north Odisha and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal and associated cyclonic circulation extending upto 5.8 km above mean sea level tilting southwards with height persists. The system is likely to become more marked during next 24 hrs,” a bulletin of the IMD issued at 8 am today said.
August 26: Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at a few places over Balangir, Kalahandi, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sundargarh, Nuapada and Sonepur with extremely heavy rainfall at one or two places over Balangir, Kalahandi, Bargarh and Sonepur districts of Odisha.
Also heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places over rest districts of interior Odisha and Puri, Khordha, Balasore districts of coastal Odisha.
August 27: Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Sambalpur and Keonjhar districts of Odisha.
August 28: Rain/Thundershower is likely to occur at many places over the districts of Odisha.
