Bhubaneswar, May 30:

Commissionerate police has launched for the unidentified miscreants who opened fired at a senior railway official posted at Rail Kunj in Odisha’s Capital city this afternoon.

An official of Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) was shot at by three unidentified men in Shree Vihar area under Chandrasekharpur police limits today.

“Joint general manager of RVNL, Ajay Kumar, was going back to his residence in Shree Vihar at 2 pm when three men stopped his car (OD-02-T-9163), and opened fire at him once. But fortunately he escaped unhurt,” Tribikram Paikaray, driver of Kumar told mediapersons.

He said that the three goons asked Kumar to go back to his native place in Bihar.

Kumar, who stays at 6th Avenue in Shree Vihar in Chandrasekharpur, however, didn’t comment on the incident.

Sources said that the anti-social elements of the area might have demanded extortion money from him.

Meanwhile, the police said they have registered a case and are investigating the matter. The miscreants involved in the incident will be caught soon, they assured.
