Bhubaneswar: All India Congress Committee (AICC) President Rahul Gandhi will visit Odisha every month till the general elections, said Congress Odisha In-charge Jitendra Singh here today.
Speaking on Rahul’s scheduled visit to Odisha on January 25, Singh said “This will be Rahul Gandhi’s first tour to Odisha in 2019. He will attend public rallies and meet party workers during his visit on January 25. Besides, he is scheduled to visit the State every month for the next three months.”
Singh further said that during his visit, the party president will target both the ruling BJD and BJP since both the parties have betrayed the people of Odisha and played with their emotions.
“Rahul Gandhi’s family is closely associated with Odisha since long. Rahul has a special place in his heart for the people of Odisha, especially the tribal and the underprivileged population in the State,” said the Congress Odisha In-charge.
Replying to questions on quitting of several party leaders in the recent days, Singh said, “There might be some vested interest behind some leaders quitting the party. Besides, this is an indicator that both the ruling BJD and BJP are afraid of Congress. Therefore, both the parties are leaving no stone unturned to lure Congress leaders to widen their support base ahead of elections.”
