Queue system for darshan at Odisha’s Srimandir from October 1

Puri: A queue system for darshan of deities at the Shree Jagannath Temple in Odisha’s Puri will be implemented on an experimental basis from October 1.

This is being done as per the suggestions by the Supreme Court towards the temple reforms. As per the new system, devotees will form a queue at the Singhadwara and move inside the temple through barricades.

Similarly, after having darshan, they will exit through the Uttaradwara. There will be separate barricades for men and women.

Infrastructural work for the queue system has already been initiated by the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA). Drilling is underway on Baisi Pahacha to install iron railings for forming barricades.

On the other hand, several devotees have expressed displeasure over the drilling work on Baisi Pahacha saying that it would hurt the religious sentiments of people.
