Bhubaneswar, Oct 22:
The state government today extended the Puja vacation of colleges in Ganjam district, which has borne the brunt of Cyclone Phailin, till November 4 as college buildings and other infrastructure damaged in the cyclone are yet to be rebuilt.
Colleges located in other districts of the state, however, opened yesterday.
The Higher Education Department has decided to extend the vacation of colleges in Ganjam district only considering the maximum damage in the district following severe cyclone.
“The government has started work on war footing to restore damaged infrastructure in all the colleges and officials have been asked to cooperate with the government to complete the work as soon as possible,” said an official of the department.
