Damanjodi, Dec 3:
Angry local people on Tuesday staged a road blockade demanding immediate arrest of the accused in the gruesome murder of a 7-year-old girl whose body was found in the morning.
According to reports, the deceased Ishwari Khara, a native of Kalahandi Colony near Mathalput and a student of Class-I, had gone to the nearby market to buy chocolates on Saturday evening But did not return. Anxious family members and neighbours went for a frantic search in the locality but failed to trace her.
The next day, the family lodged a complaint with the police. But that was of little help because even the the police could not trace Ishwari.
However, on Tuesday, four days after she went missing, Iswari’s body was found packed in a sack bag from the house of Dhania Pangi.
Following the information, police rushed to the spot. While the tongue of the girl was found severed, there were a number of burn and boil marks on her body.
Local people, going by the nature of the injuries, suspected it to have been a case of human sacrifice.
As the news spread like wildfire, irate locals staged a road blockade at the main road of Mathalput from 8 AM to 4 PM. While the market was closed, vehicular traffic came to a grinding halt.
The locals demanded immediate arrest of the killer and financial assistance to the family of the deceased.
However, the blockade was withdrawn after senior police officials assured the locals that the killer will be nabbed at the earliest.
Talking to OST, the crestfallen father of the deceased girl Nagesh Khara said he has no idea why her daughter would be killed by anyone.
“I have no enmity with anyone”, he said.
Locals, however, suspect that the minor girl might have been sacrificed by someone to propitiate some god or goddess.
