Public Hearing on MDM in city on Sep 17

All of you  are quite aware  about  chaotic situation  in respect of management  of MDM  in Odisha.  Every day, mass media carries the news about causalities suffered by the school children  due  to mismanagement of  MDM  in the schools.  To ensure proper management of MDM in the schools,  Dept. of  School and  Mass Education, Govt. of Odisha  has issued series of  circulars, directions  and protocol   to the school. But it has not helped   any way to check the mishap.

Public anger against the authorities is growing day by day in the state. Mass demonstration, public  protest, road blockade  is being organized pressing  demand  for checking  all bottlenecks  to ensure  effective arrangement for MDM. Some  learned  people  have suggested  to Govt. in many ways  for Independent grievance redressal mechanism  at block and district level,  constitution of independent monitoring   team with involvement of  Civil society Groups  for  monitoring of MDM in the schools.

 Keeping in view all the issues, a State-level Public Hearing on “Mid-Day-Meal programme” is being organized by Right to Food Campaign, Odisha at IDCOL Auditorium, Bhubaneswar on 17.9.13. Social Activists, NGOs, Govt. officials, Panchayat Representatives, Teachers’ Association, Federation of Cooks , School Management Committee  Members, representative of political parties  are  being invited  to  put their grievances/ complaints/problems/suggestions in the public hearing. Eminent personalities like retired bureaucrats, advocates, journalist will constitute jury  for  the hearing.
