Commissionerate police today intensified their probe into the firing incident that took place late on Wednesday night in which a youth was shot at in Jharpada area in Odisha capital.
A team of investigators comprising official from Laxmisagar police station and scientific team reached the crime scene this morning and began their investigation into the incident. The team also collected blood samples from the spot for forensic test.
Besides, the police are raiding various possible hideouts to nab the culprits.
According to reports, three motorcycle-borne unidentified miscreants intercepted Kuna Mangaraj (36) near Balaji Complex in the city late yesterday night. After a while, the miscreants opened fire at Mangaraj following an altercation. The assailants fired three rounds of bullets at the victim and fled the spot.
On hearing the gunshots, locals gathered and rushed Mangaraj to Capital Hospital in a serious condition. Later, he was shifted to a private hospital in the city, sources said.
After being informed, Laxmisagar police station Inspector-in-Charge Rajat Kumar Ray reached the site and started an investigation. Police recovered three empty bullet shells from the crime scene.
While the reason behind the attack is unknown, police have launched a manhunt to nab the miscreants.
Meanwhile, police have detained two persons for interrogation.
“One of the accused has been identified and we have launched a manhunt to nab him,” Twin City Commissioner YB Khurania said.
