Bhubaneswar, Oct 4:
In order to provide job opportunities to private diploma engineering and ITI students, the Employment and Technical Education and Training (ET&T) department of the Odisha government has decided to allow job aspirants from these institutions to register their names in the placement cell of the department.
Earlier, the passed out students of government run polytechnics and ITIs were allowed to register their names only in the placement cell of agencies facilitating employment for them.
“We have decided to provide job opportunities to students passing out of private institutions. They will avail all the
benefits provided to government run institutions,” said an official of ET&T department.
The decision came after repeated plea of Odisha Private Engineering School Association (OPESA), which has been urging the government to provide job facility through the placement cell.
According to OPESA secretary Saroj Kumar Sahu, 100 private engineering polytechnics and the 30 government run
engineering institutions together produce about 10,000 candidates seeking jobs every year.
