The teachers of all primary schools in Odisha will be relieved of their mid-day meal and other additional duties as part of the reform process in the Primary and Secondary education sector for which the state government has prepared a blueprint.
As per the blueprint, prepared in the presence of School and Mass Education minister, departmental secretary Usha Padhee and senior officials of the concerned departments at a high-level meeting here recently, appointment of school teachers would be made in keeping with the requirements over the next three years.
A decision has been taken to provide textbooks in all the schools by June.
The meeting also decided that the department would set up a special Lok Adalat by August to dispose off all pending cases. Steps would be taken to ensure that the department is not embroiled in such cases in future.
With the regard to infrastructure development, it has been decided to set up rainwater harvesting projects and take up afforestation work in the schools.
Besides, it was decided to form a corpus fund of Rs 1 crore to reward the schools, teachers and students for good performance.
