Bhubaneswar, June 9:
With the southwest monsoon most likely to hit the state on June 16, Odisha will have its first pre-monsoon showers from June 12, the local Met office said in a release here this evening.
Meanwhile, temperature had a marginal downward slide in the western Odisha districts today barring five towns and cities where the mercury soared up to 40 degree and above.
Hirakud was the hottest place with 43 degree Celsius while it was 40.3 in Jharsuguda, 42.4 in Sambalpur, 41.2 in Bhawanipatna and 41 in Titlagarh.
In the coastal districts, people had a terrible time battling humidity levels over 80 percent and the minor drizzles at several places including Bhubaneswar in the last 24 hours was of little help.
