Bhubaneswar, Oct 13:
The Energy department has assured people that power connections in 90% of the area covered by Central Power Supply Utility (CESU) would be restored by Monday evening.
“Restoration of power in Ganjam district, however, may take up to a week,” Energy secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena told media persons on Sunday.
He said the Narendrapur grid station near Gopalpur, which took the biggest hit of Pailin, had been completely damaged and its restoration would take time.
The Energy secretary put the losses caused by the cyclone to the department at about Rs 400 crore.
Meanwhile, authorities have announced that all state and national highways in the state had already been cleared and opened to traffic while resumption of vehicular traffic on roads in the interior would be completed by tomorrow.
