Bhubaneswar, May 13:
The state Energy department has urged the four distribution companies (discoms) in Odisha to ensure uninterrupted supply of power to the counting centres on May 16, the day that will decide the fate of candidates contesting the Lok Sabha and Assembly seats in the state.
“Since the counting of votes of general election to Lok Sabha and Odisha Legislative Assembly is scheduled to be held on May 16 at different centres in the state, immediate and necessary arrangements be made for an uninterrupted power supply to those centres,” said a letter of the department directing the discoms to deploy technical staff in those centres to avoid any interruption in power supply.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission has made elaborate security arrangements for counting of votes.
The counting, involving about 12000 employees, would be done in 159 halls across 64 centres in the state.
